Umoja wa wawezeshaji KIOO, in collaboration with the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA), has successfully conducted a Civic and Voter Education (CVE) training program targeting Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in Kigoma. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusive democratic participation ahead of the upcoming electoral processes in Tanzania.
The training brought together participants with various forms of disabilities, equipping them with essential knowledge on voter rights, the electoral process, and the importance of active participation in decision-making and leadership spaces. The sessions also addressed accessibility challenges and advocated for a more inclusive electoral environment.
Speaking during the training, KIOO Executive director emphasized the critical need to empower marginalized groups, especially persons with disabilities, to ensure their voices are heard and respected. Democracy must work for everyone. We are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in civic processes, he said.
The collaboration with EISA underscores a shared commitment to building a more inclusive and participatory democracy in Tanzania, where every citizen, regardless of ability, can exercise their constitutional rights.
KIOO and EISA commend the enthusiasm and engagement shown by the participants and encourage continued community awareness, dialogue, and action toward inclusive governance.
